Petrol, diesel sales fall as monsoon ebbs demand - The Hindu

The consumption of petrol and diesel in India experienced a decline in the first half of July due to the impact of the monsoon season on travel plans and reduced demand in the agricultural sector. Preliminary industry data revealed that the demand for diesel, which is the most widely used fuel in the country, constituting about two-fifths of total demand, dropped by 15% to 2.96 million tonnes between July 1 and July 15 compared to the same period last year. This downturn in consumption follows a surge in diesel demand during April and May, with the drop attributed to the onset of the monsoon season.
